Actresses Edie Falco and Cicely Tyson, Hearst Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles, Nickelodeon’s Cyma Zarghami, and UN Correspondents Association’s Sherwin Bryce-Pease participated in a panel discussion, “The Role of Media to Empower Women” moderated by Joan Lunden in the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the United Nations.
At the event Al Jazeera Media Network was presented with the first annual UN Women for Peace Association Awareness Award for the role its documentaries have had in promoting understanding and awareness of the plight of women and girls around the world.
