1. Peyman Umay, Pinar Ogun, MemetAli AlaboraThe American Turkish Society’s 16th Annual New York Turkish Film Festival at the SVA Theatre in Chelsea welcomed filmmakers, film enthusiasts, actors and members from the Turkish American community.

The four-day festival, which was sponsored by the Turkey-US Business Council (TAIK) and RAMERICA, screened six feature films and two short films kicking off with multi-award-winner and Best Feature Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Cold of Kalandar.  The festival lineup also featured Sleep of Love, My Father’s Wings, Little Bullets, Exhibit, Frenzy and Blue.

As an exciting addition, this year the festival screened a horror film for the first time entitled Housewife, which was most recently honored at Monster Fest 2017, where Can Evrenol won the award for Best Director.

After select screenings, guests enjoyed Q&A’s with some of the film directors, producers and stars including Mustafa Kara, Nermin Aytekin, Alican Yucesoy, Peyman Umay, Pinar Ogun, Alphan Eseli, Sertan Unver and Suzan Guverte.

Chairman Murat Köprülü and Vice Chairman Lawrence M. Kaye of The American Turkish Society, provided the opening and closing remarks during the festival run. The Consul General of Turkey in New York, Ertan Yalcin, Jenifer Rajkumar, who represented Governor Cuomo, and actor Emrhys Cooper, who is best known for the teen drama Vanity, were also in attendance to lend their support for the films.
