Former Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s daughter Georgina was a special guest at Jean Shafiroff’s book launch, “Successful Philanthropy – How to Make a Life by What You Give.”

The book features an introduction from accomplished equestrian Georgina Bloomberg, who toasted Jean in front of guests mingling over cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at Shafiroff’s Park Ave apartment.

Midway through, the philanthropist said: “when you give, you get, and what you get is the reward of knowing that what you are doing is making the world a better place.”

A philanthropist and humanitarian, Shafiroff is considered to be at the vanguard of a new movement of modern philanthropists. She is a volunteer fundraiser, leader and spokesperson for several charitable causes. She serves on the boards of New York City Mission Society, New York Women’s Foundation, French Heritage Society, Couture Council (Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology), Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services (20+ years), Southampton Animal Shelter Honorary Board, and Southampton Bath & Tennis Club’s Charitable Foundation.

Other guests included: Geoffrey Bradfield, Suzette Charles, Rita Cosby, Alex Donner, Curtis Ellis, Scott Elkins, George and Hillie Gurley, Roy Kean, Carl Kempner, FOX News correspondent Rick Leventhal, Maggie Norris, Anne Rapp, Dawne-Marie Grannum, Dr. Penny Grant, R. Couri Hay, Stan Rumbough, Martin Shafiroff, Mortimer Zuckerman, Randi Schatz and Zang Toi.
