There was talk within the comedy community about why writer, comedian and host Dennis Miller was a no-show at Lorne Michael’s 40th SNL Anniversary special where almost every comedian, actor, sports figure etc to ever appear on the program showed up.
The 61-year old seasoned veteran who hosted SNL’s Weekend Update from 1985-1991, and then went on to host a bevy of other shows, did however show with his wife Carolyn Espley to Tom Ford’s celebrity heavy Autumn/Winter Womenswear Collection Presentation at Milk Studios.
Fellow former Update anchor Seth Meyers, who has been influenced by Miller, appeared on Bill Simmons’ podcast and named Miller as the one person he really wished could have made it. But as Lorne Michaels had said from the beginning, everyone was invited to participate.
Who knows.
