Legendary movie producer Peter Guber can now add another professional sports team to his long resume.

Already co-owner of two professional sports teams: the Golden State Warriors of the NBA, and the Los Angeles Dodgers of MLB, Guber, Chairman and CEO of Mandalay Entertainment, is now part owner of a new soccer club to debut in Los Angeles in 2017.

Guber’s champion resume includes The Witches of Eastwick, Flashdance and Rain Man.

Under the ownership group led by prominent entrepreneur, Henry Nguyen, there’s Peter Guber, sports veteran Tom Penn, former Los Angeles Laker Earvin “Magic” Johnson, U.S. women’s soccer great Mia Hamm Garciaparra, former Major League Baseball star, Nomar Garciaparra, and life/business strategist, best-selling author, Tony Robbins.

At the celebratory press conference at Siren Studios last week, MLS Commissioner Don Garber said; “We are thrilled to welcome Henry Nguyen, Peter Guber, Tom Penn and their owner partners to Major League Soccer.”  This visionary ownership group will chart a course that will further elevate the sport in this great city and, combined with a new state-of-the-art stadium, accelerate us down the path toward becoming one of the top soccer leagues in the world.”

The new soccer stadium in the greater Los Angeles area will be built specifically for the team.
