HBO just announced that Oscar winning superstar Julia Roberts, will star opposite Oscar nominated Mark Ruffalo, in Ryan Murphy’s produced and directed  ‘A Normal Heart’ made famous by Ellen Barkin on the Broadway stage in which she won a Tony.

Roberts will play wheelchair bound Dr. Emma  Brookner, who treats HIV-positive patients in the early days of the epidemic in the early 1980’s.

Ruffalo will play Ned Weeks, the founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group and Matt Bomer will play his lover.

Alec Baldwin will play Ned’s brother, a lawyer who struggles to accept his sexuality, and Jim Parson’s plays a gay activist who forms a health crises group.

The TV film will air on HBO in 2014.l

Roberts previously teamed up with ‘Glee’ guru Murphy in ‘Eat Pray Love.
