Lights. Camera. Action.

The MARTINI Sparkling Wine was flowing the other night at Betsey Johnson’s fashion show and 70th Birthday party at ESPACE in New York City.

Fashionistas, celebs and friends of the pint-sized designer entered a packed house to get a glimpse of Johnson’s newest collection.

Notable guests included Cyndi Lauper, Kelly Osborne, Lil Kim, Wendy Williams, Adrienne Bailon, George Kotsiopoulos, Jonathan Cheban, Hugh Hefner’s ex Bridget Marquardt, Annasophia Robb, Andrew/Andrew, Angela Simmons, Bebe Buell, Byrdie Bell, Charlotte Ronson, Cory Kennedy, Danistahl, Fern Mallis, Irena Pantaeva, Jessica White, June Ambrose, Noelle Scaggs, MDNR, Nicole Atkins, Neon Hitch, Patrick McMullan, Rick Genest (Zombie Boy), Robert Verdi, Shawn Ross, Steve Madden, Aviva Drescher and Jill Zarin from Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York City.

It’s safe to say that the eclectic crowd ‘matched’ Johnson’s 90 different looks that danced down the runway.

Upon entry, guests were greeted by brightly-dressed models decked out in glittery pink tutus (a staple of Johnson’s newest collection) passing out mini bottles of MARTINI Rosé, Prosecco and Asti and sweet treats from Baked By Melissa.

The ambiance was festive with large jars full of Betsey’s favorite pink and red candy displayed prominently on each of the MARTINI bars and laser lights and funky images rotating on the surrounding screens.

Cyndi Lauper kicked-off the show in a black tulle mini skirt and crazy up-do as she serenaded the crowd with classic hits like “Girls Just Want to Have Fun.”

As confetti and glitter fell from above, models paraded down the runway in everything from slippers and high-top sneakers to leopard-print bodysuits and tulle party dresses. Johnson’s signature rock-and-roll style was evident in the brightly-colored looks, crimped hairdos and unconventional props.

To end the show, Johnson’s gorgeous daughter, Lulu, popped out of an oversized birthday cake and was joined by her two young daughters as Betsey cart-wheeled down the stage.  A late night surprised came in the form of infamous female rap star, Lil Kim, who arrived after the show to congratulate Johnson and toast with a magnum bottle of MARTINI Asti bedazzled with the designer’s name (in pink crystals of course).

Sounds like it was the perfect way to end an amazing night for the young at heart legendary designer.
