Christina Applegate, Will Arnett and Maya Rudolph’s funny NBC sitcom ‘Up All Night’ which takes an irreverent look at modern parenthood is pulling out all the celebrity stops and bringing the funny by enlisting Jason Lee and soon to be Megan Mullally.

Appearing in one episode airing sometime after the holidays, the Will & Grace star has been cast as a talk show host who will rival Maya Rudolph’s character in what one can call comedy gold. Can you say Diva to Diva?

Comic actor Jason Lee, who has already filmed three episodes said about working with the cast, “They are all very cool people, and so, as a guest star, you hope for that, because, you know, you want to be able to just blend in and have fun and have it feel comfortable. And certainly, great show regulars help that immensely. And so fortunately, all of these people are very cool. And with Maya, I think there’s great chemistry and she’s very playful.

And everybody’s been totally inviting. There’s a lot of improve and goofing off.And you know,I feel right at home and so I thank them immensely for making it comfortable for me.”

Jason who is married in real life and a father twice over continued about relating to his character. “It helps playing a dad on the show, because I can totally relate and you know identify with that energy of being a father. And you know, so hopefully that translates well.”

Regarding improvising and working with those funny gals Christina and Maya, was it hard to keep a straight face? “Yes. I mean there was definitely some laughing with me and Maya messing up lines and goofing off and adding things that make the other person kind of chuckle and you know but that’s the fun working on a comedy is that you get to play like that. It’s fun because I haven’t really done that in awhile because it’s been a few years since Earl.”

NBC’s ‘Up All Night’ airs Wednesday’s at 8pm ET.
