Gourmet Chinese Food hot spot Philippe Chow is coming to South Florida. Opening Wednesday August 24th in Boca Raton taking over the former III Forks Steakhouse location, the restaurant will reportedly be a more casual dining spot with prices on signature dishes at 20-30 percent less than at all the other high-end Philippe Chow restaurants.

Philippe by Philippe Chow CEO Stratis Morfogen has several celebrity partners in the deal, including Jerome Bettis, former Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl champion and NBC personality; Chauncey Billups of the New York Knicks;  Alonzo Mourning, formerly of the Miami Heat; and Albert Harrington of the Denver Nuggets. Said Morfogen,”With Facebook and Twitter – some of these guys have 2 million followers,” Some go on television and are wearing a Philippe hat. That type of support from an investor is invaluable.”

And for all you Miami-ans wondering what happened to Philippe Chow which recently closed at the Gansevoort South Hotel, worry no more it’s relocating to Brickell Village to the younger, more vibrant crowd and taking over the old Taverna Opa space on Ocean Drive.

Looking to grow the Philippe brand, the owners are in negotiations with top shopping mall developers and airline concession owners to add a Philippe Chow ‘Express’ concept. The first ‘Express’ location which fizzled in Downtown NYC a few years back was very cool and a favorite of mine.

And not to leave out Dubai and Moscow, a few joint venture deals are in the works.

Philippe is a great spot for upscale singling and mingling. Do go.
