Just like it was out of the 80’s playbook, in came the inspiring and one of a kind all-girl band The Go-Go’s as if time stood still. Last week Irving Plaza packed to the gills with screaming fans of all ages couldn’t get enough of the talented gal group who rocked us back to the 80’s with all their catchy hits including ‘Our Lips Our Sealed, ‘This Town,’ crowd pleasing ‘Vacation,’ and Belinda’s solo song ‘Mad About You.’ Belinda Carlisle looking gorgeous in a classy black satin top and red hair lead the girls for two hours in what can be called a slammin’ show from the coolest chicks around who know how to write, and rock & roll better than the best. The very talented funky and punky Jane Wiedlin with her white spiked hair along with groovy band mates Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock and Kathy Valentine who all excel at their instruments, had the people screaming every word to every song. As I gingerly squeezed in and marked my territory overlooking the balcony to get my bird’s eye view of the chicks, the occasional unintentional boob graze from the guy next to me coupled with the ponytail brush on my back from the nasty girl to my right throughout the show was worth every annoying second. Go see ‘the ‘Ladies Gone Wild’ tour this summer. www.gogos.com
