Robert Downey, Jr. will receive the 25th American Cinematheque Award at the organization’s annual black-tie benefit gala, set for Oct. 14 at the Beverly Hilton in CA. The 46-year-old actor who has truly become an iron man and transformed his life, follows in the footsteps of such past honorees as directors Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg and fellow thespians Al Pacino, Julia Roberts, Michael Douglas and last year’s recipient, Matt Damon. The award, established in 1986, is meant to honor “an extraordinary artist” in the film biz. Downey’s wife Susan is the right arm producer to Hollywood heavyweight Joel Silver. This is a fun award show.
