Murray Hill’s newest modern hot spot, chic Mexican restaurant and lounge Teqa, was jam-packed with local clientele and celebs for its big Cinco de Mayo bash last week. TV host Mario Lopez along with Courtney Mazza, his girlfriend and mother of his new baby girl Gia who looked gorgeous and back to her skinny self, held court at Teqa’s front VIP booth with friends and Teqa’s debonair owner Derek Axelrod (pictured) and toasted to Mexico’s biggest day of heritage and pride with tasty margaritas and house special tequilas. ‘Extra’ correspondent AJ Calloway got into the spirit and did a shot with his fellow colleague as the hot chicks surrounded and vied for a look at the infamous dimpled smiling Lopez. Later in the evening DJ Sky Nellor got the crowd grooving as NYC Real Housewife Kelly Bensimon celebrating her birthday, occupied the same booth along with her new buddy and fellow co-star and newbie, spa owner Cindy Barshop who left early. I was able to ask Kelly what has been the best perk of being a ‘RHONYC’ and she said, “The best part about filming is watching my daughters navigate through the process so well! Its amazing to see them do what even adults have trouble with.” Well, there you go, Ms.Bensimon has spoken.
