Mary McCormack plays tough as nails and no nonsense U.S. Marshal Mary Shannon working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program relocating federal witnesses who are wanted dead. While on a press call last week, the very cool and funny actress and mom to two with a third on the way began by describing her character. “I love that Mary Shannon’s really good at her job and not so good at her personal life. I like that she’s cynical and sarcastic. It’s fun –it’s just fun to play someone so grouchy. It’s sort of refreshing. I can be a little bit grouchy myself so it’s a comfortable fit.” Being that the show is one of the highest rated with 4.5 million viewers how will they deal with the stars new pregnancy? “Well, we’re writing it in. I mean we’re writing it in and I’m playing pregnant. I mean I had a – I did what I had to do to get pregnant first. And then – and now we’re dealing with it. Mary Shannon’s not a, you know, you don’t think of her as necessarily maternal so it’s making for some interesting story stuff and character stuff, which I think is really fun to play.” Mary, who stars opposite the endearing and handsome Frederick Weller didn’t hold back and we wouldn’t expect anything else from the gal that lived to tell after her role as Howard Stern’s wife years ago in ‘Private Parts,’ when she was asked what show on USA Network she would like her show to cross-over with. “I would do Psych. If not, I would do ‘30 Rock’. That’s my favorite show on TV.” No worries Agent Mary, ’30 Rock’ which airs on NBC and USA Networks are both owned by the same corporate kahuna. Guest stars this season include Bradley Whitford from ‘West Wing,’ and Leslie Ann Warren returns as her mother. ‘In Plain Sight’ premieres tonight, Sunday, May 1 at 10p. This show rocks, do watch.
