The original 1981 classic film ‘Arthur’ starring Dudley Moore who garnered an Oscar nom, and Oscar winner for 1972’s ‘Cabaret’ Liza Minnelli, was one of those amazing films that will forever remain embedded in our minds as such. That being said, the wildly crazy, funny and charming Russell Brand along with Helen Mirren, Jennifer Garner and new stand out Greta Gerwig do their best to give us a remake that is enjoyable and laughable. Russell Brand will make you laugh as the boozing bad boy billionaire along with Helen Mirren as Hobson, his lifelong loyal nanny whose job is to keep him out of trouble. Jennifer Garner looks gorgeous and shows her acting chops as the nasty rich girl ‘Susan,’ who Arthur is forced to marry in order to inherit the family’s vast fortune. And stand out actress Greta Gerwig, who we first saw opposite Ben Stiller in ‘Greenberg,’ has slimmed down and is engaging in the role of Naomi, the poor commoner who Arthur falls in love with. Nick Nolte adds some excitement as ‘Susan’s father and it’s always great to see movies filmed in NYC. Warner Bros. ‘Arthur’ opens Friday, April 8 at a theater near you.
