The famous Plaza Hotel home of the exquisite and legendary Oak Room, has become the new hot spot and buzzing big time lately with amazing parties, A-list movie premieres, the impromptu mini-concerts of Lada Gaga, and most recently Billy Joel’s daughter Alexa Ray’s 3-week Monday night gig. I caught the gorgeous looking singer, songwriter and pianist’s performance this week and with a packed room of family, friends, admirers, and some Real Housewives of New Jersey, the grand voiced Miss Alexa delivered a powerful and intense soulful set. Her funky and punky young boy band accompanied her on her own deeply written tunes as well as classics ‘Beast of Burden’ from the Rolling Stones and ‘Lights’ by legendary Steve Perry of Journey who according to Alexa is, “one of the greatest rock singers ever.” Dressed in a hot tight dress and colossal heals, the daughter of the still gorgeous Christie Brinkley who you could tell is one of her biggest fans, has moved far past her tough year and could be on her way to doing tremendous things.
