I attended Bethenny Frankel’s intimate book party a few years back at the New York Palace Hotel in Midtown and I couldn’t help but notice a few feet away from me was a friendly looking gentleman working the room with a great big smile and an aura for days. He had that extra something, you know that quality that gets your attention and makes you want to find out who that person is. We exchanged smiles and it would just a take a few weeks to realize it was Bravo’s trendsetting programming executive Andy Cohen, when his entertaining and fun late night talk show ‘Watch What Happens: Live” debuted and not surprisingly, quickly turned into quite the place to be and be seen. The NY Times and NY Magazine have even compared Cohen to my great friend radio and TV personality Joe Franklin who practically invented the talk show. Apparently, (I haven’t been) the guests arrive at Bravo’s NYC ‘clubhouse,’ cameras roll, drinks are served, guards are down and a show is born. His New Year’s Eve Party turned out comic diva Sandra Bernhard, a bunch of entertaining “Bravolebrity’s” and even past guests and friends Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos joined in on the fun via telephone from their ski vacation in Colorado. Yes, they like Andy that much. Sarah Jessica Parker has gladly appeared and taken part in the late night shtick as has Ralph Fiennes, Diane von Furstenberg, Regina King and sexy Ellen Barkin to only name a few. Even semi-reclusive comic king Jerry Seinfeld reluctantly showed his face all in the business of good TV fun. Seriously speaking, watching what happens with Andy Cohen and his ever-expanding slate of pop-culture, fashion, food and beauty style programming that’s tapped into the pulse of America and has us glued to the set should be everyone’s New Year’s resolution.  Check out TV executive by day and charmingly naughty talk show host by night Andy Cohen on ‘Watch What Happens: Live’ Thursday’s and Sunday’s at 11pm where everyone is mishpucha.
