The amazing and endearing actress Patty Duke of stage, film and television, has been around the Hollywood block, good and bad and could teach us all a few things. Born in Queens, NY, Duke was the first child star at age 16 to win an Academy Award for best supporting actress for ‘The Miracle Worker’ and The Patty Duke Show soon followed as did countless acting gigs and award nominations. She even became president of the Screen Actors Guild in the 80’s. Married four times, three sons, three granddaughters and a mental health advocate ever since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the mega actress even feels for troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan and told me, “I feel a real come back for her.” Patty is hysterical and had me laughing so hard when she told me how she revolted against the tabloids when she was a kid and also hounded by the media with their ‘negative and intrusive ways.” The cover girl would turn them around backwards in the magazine racks at the grocery stores. Proud mother and grandmother and relishing in those roles these days, Patty still wants to work and loved her role in the upcoming Lifetime Television’s Unanswered Prayers” with Eric Close, Samantha Mathis and Madchen Amick, along with country superstar Garth Brooks producing. Named after Brook’s #1 hit song ‘Unanswered Prayers,’ the story explores marriage, family, community and second chances, and looks to be one of those Lifetime stories we love a lot. “Unanswered Prayers” premieres on Lifetime Television Monday, November 29th at 9pm ET.
