Judging from the way West Hollywood Italian hot spot Dan Tana’s vehemently hung up on me when asked if they had Craig Susser’s phone number, they are probably not too thrilled that their one-time actor- turned maître d’ extraordinaire Craig Susser, who even made a brief appearance in HBO’s Hollywood related ‘Entourage,’ left recently after over 20 years, and is opening his own restaurant nearby on Melrose Ave. The no-nonsense show biz favorite, Dan Tanas, the Italian steak house known for its scrumptious Italian fare and just as delicious heavyweight clientele, is an LA staple where everyone goes and I mean everyone, and unless you’re a family member of Hollywood’s original deal maker giant Lew Wasserman, who even has a booth named after him, you wait for your table like everyone else. Susser’s new place Craig’s, according to Eater.com, is opening in the old Melrose Bar & Grill space and should open by Thanksgiving. After 20 years at Tana’s, this should be a piece of cake for Susser.
