Look out Park Ave South, the Tiki gods have spoken and Polynesian culture is about to take over the neighborhood. By a divine act of god or close enough, Michael Stillman brings The Hurricane Club, a modern and massive Polynesian restaurant, tiki bar and lounge to the area. Along with partner/Chef Craig Koketsu (Quality Meats, Park Ave), the lush, exotic and elegantly sophisticated yet joyfully outlandish tiki-style supper club offers Hawaiian, Pan Asian and Pacific Rim fare with a menu including old school Pu Pu Platters, Coconut Shrimp and The Hurricane Rib, a long bone short rib caramelized to perfection. And if that isn’t mouthwatering enough, the many various cocktail creations contain an element of surprise and are happily numbered and categorized rather than named. I don’t know about you but the #440 – Montecristo Spice, Pineapple, Kiwi and Ginger, served in a scorpion bowl with a flaming shot of Bacardi already has me at hello. Not to mention the Tiki Cocktail (look left) with tropical umbrella for a splash of style. I’m going now. www.thehurricaneclub.com
