HBO has acquired the rights to ‘Public Speaking,’ a documentary directed by Martin Scorsese about Fran Lebowitz and her “unique take on modern life.” The documentary was produced by good friend Graydon Carter, who runs Vanity Fair magazine and also hot spot restaurants Waverly Inn and Monkey Bar. Lebowitz is also a contributing editor to Vanity Fair. The film will showcase Lebowitz’s worldview and experiences while spotlighting her trademark humor. The feature-length film shot in the style of Scorsese’s earlier style documentaries, will debut in November. Fran Lebowitz, who I met briefly years ago, is a trip and a one of a kind true New Yorker, so it’s no surprise that there’s a movie made about her.
