The iconic and addicting ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ returns for its twelfth season September 22nd at 9pm for a special 2 hour episode on NBC. The chemistry ridden stars, Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni have been on- screen partners for twelve years, only to be beaten out by Ozzie and Harriet who lasted for fourteen. Hargitay’s character that plays sympathetic to Meloni’s character’s rage, are as one reporter put it recently on a conference call, ‘the glue that holds the show together.’ Neal Baer, the brilliant and enthusiastic executive producer who was answering questions about the show then added that ‘the guest stars are what keeps the show fresh.’ And guest stars they get. Besides all the a-listers that have appeared through the years, show biz legend Ellen Burstyn took home an Emmy last year. The show has become such, that even movie stars lobby for a role to jump start their career. The new season, which looks to be as captivating and guest star- heavier than ever, has the amazing a-list comedic actress Joan Cusack and Parenthood’s Peter Strauss in the first episode. Happily and fortunately, the show which has mainly been filmed in North Bergen, NJ in the past has now moved filming to NYC’s vast sports and entertainment complex Chelsea Piers. Rumors have swirled that Meloni may leave after this season so better tune because if he does the show will never be the same.
