Mario Batali, famed NYC Chef, restaurateur, author, and of course Food Networks ‘Iron Chef’ famous for his orange crocks, has just added a new establishment to his NYC empire, ‘Eataly’ which just arrived at 23rd Street and Fifth Ave. The new artisanal Italian food and wine marketplace which takes over the former Toy Building, is the ultimate destination for food lovers, to shop, taste and savor the best Italian delicacies including cured meats, cheeses, fruits, vegetables, fresh meats, fresh fish, handmade pasta, desserts and baked goods and coffees. Batali, has teamed up with Italy’s Oscar Farinetti, who already has a gourmet market in Italy and Lidia and Joe Bastianich, the mother and son team of NY Chef’s and restaurants, with whom Mario is currently a partner, to open this 50,000 foot space in the flatiron district into New York City’s premier culinary mecca. This high- end and fancy new food lovers paradise is apparently the largest artisanal food and wine marketplace in the world. It’s totally beautiful and decadent so bring your big and beautiful wallet.
