Coconut water is all the buzz recently, so much so that the supermarkets are being really strategic lately and displaying it right by the check- out area, so we have no choice but to notice it, ponder its existence and decide whether to buy it or not. Even Giselle Bundchen and new Knickerbocker Amare Stoudemire swear by it. I haven’t taken the plunge yet but along with many others, I’m about to. Apparently, besides being a natural source of nutrition, wellness, beauty and hydration, its many benefits include stress reduction and energy boosting. Top company, ZICO Pure Premium Coconut Water, which has become the natural replenishment choice for runners, cyclists and athletes, among others, did something very smart recently. They held a contest, accompanied with an “I Am Natural” campaign, in search of the most natural consumer who would best fit the face of ZICO. The winner would replace, model Molly Simms and appear on a huge ZICO billboard in Soho, for the entire city to see. The result, fitness enthusiast Amanda Russell who was spotted indoor cycling at SoulCycle, was chosen by a panel of health and fitness experts, and now proudly graces the corner of Watts and Thompson Street right outside the Holland Tunnel. Wow. I’m off to buy my first eco-friendly bottle of ZICO. Could I be next? www.zico.com
