Long time actor Rob Lowe has just moved up the ranks in Hollywood. Rob is now one of the investors in the purchase of Miramax by a consortium of buyers who call themselves Filmyard Holdings. Rob has partnered up with Tom Barrack of Colony Capital, and along with Ron Tutor and a few other small investors, owns the specialty film house. One rumored investor is James Robinson of Morgan Creek, who along with Lowe have years of show biz experience. This apparently is the big media deal Lowe has been working on that has been real hush hush. Lowe, who started in the business years ago with peers like Charlie Sheen and Robert Downey Jr., was probably looking for a way to make the mega bucks like they have been raking in lately, and saw this as a chance to do just that. In a statement released on Friday, Mr. Lowe said: “The acquisition of a classic brand like Miramax is an exciting first step in my partnership with Tom Barrack and Colony Capital. This represents an exciting new chapter for me. And Tom and I could not have a better partner on our first deal together than Ron Tutor.” Now all they have to do is figure out how to make money. Rob can also be seen soon as a regular on Parks and Recreation with Amy Poehler.
