American Entrepreneur, hip-hop pioneer and major philanthropist, Russell Simmons was honored last night by the JBFCS – Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services a trailblazer in non-profit mental health and social services agencies. Russell was honored for his commitment, dedication and work towards community based programs, facilities and treatment centers that service many thousands of of New Yorkers in need of various kinds of treatment to secure a better future. The dinner and award ceremony were incredible not only did a Rabbi make a blessing before dinner was served but another Rabbi presented Russell with his tribute speech and award. For a brief moment, I thought I was at temple for friday night services. Russell kept his acceptance speech short and sweet, “It’s a great pleasure to serve this foundation and community.” As dapper as he looked in his signature jeans, sneaks, argyle sweater, jacket and yankee cap, his best accessory of the night was his leggy girlfriend.
