new-york-city-independent-film-festivalThe 8th Annual NYC Indie Film Festival takes place this year from May 1stMay 7th, and features a number of networking events, panels and seminars.

One of the exciting new additions this year, is a day-long Virtual Reality Experience, in partnership with REVIRE Immersive Works and Pretend Labs. The VR experience will showcase works curated by REVIRE co-founder, Mark Sternberg, as well as original works, including 360 Video, Cinematic VR pieces and Interactive VR videos.
In addition, Pretend Labs, helmed by Brandon Henriquez, will present demos of various applications, including Fragments by Microsoft HoloLens, and showcase a number of 3D scans.

Another addition to this year’s festival is the NYCIndieFF Voices Exhibit Project. In response to the current political climate in the United States, the NYCIndieFF welcomes all voices, from NYC and worldwide, to send a short, honest video about how they feel about their place in their community, country and the world.

NYCIndieFF Executive Director, Dennis Cieri, will curate the installation piece, which aims to give unheard voices a platform for expression.

Submissions should be 2-5 minutes in length, and can be shot horizontally with cell phones. Anyone can submit a video here: exhibit@nycindieff.com.
