That’s actress Linda Cardellini during her fashion shoot in Islamorada, Florida (the very location where much of her hit Netflix series, Bloodline, is shot), opening up to Good Housekeeping’s April issue about crushes, style idols, how Freaks and Geeks still resonates today, her awkward teenage years, and much more.

Here’s some:

On her first celebrity crush (hint: an early Batman) and star-struck moment (not who you’d expect!):

“My first-ever celebrity crush was Val Kilmer from Top Secret! Not his biggest film, but I remember loving him in that movie. I also saw Mother Teresa in San Francisco when I was a kid. I don’t know what came over me, but I ran up and touched her on the shoulder. Then I ran away!”

On her style crushes, from Rooney Mara to the cast of Carol and her Bloodline co-star Kyle Chandler:

“I love to watch what Rooney Mara wears. It’s always exciting to see what she wears. She’s brave. And of course Cate Blanchett always looks exciting and interesting and gorgeous. [And] the cast of Carol. I liked to see what they were wearing [at The Golden Globes]. Especially (Bloodline co-star) Kyle Chandler. I see what he’s wearing a lot, turns out.”

On one of her earliest gigs, Judd Apatow’s award-winning show Freaks and Geeks—which she most commonly gets recognized from:

“We’ve got really incredible fans, and we get new fans all the time, for a show that’s been around a while. We get new fans all the time with Netflix.”

On her daughter’s adorable habit of stealing her phone and secretly filling it with selfies:

“My daughter takes my phone and she takes selfies of herself constantly and it’s hilarious… I just found one the other day where she’s saying, “I love you Mommy and Daddy” about eight times as fast as she could and then shut off the camera before we found her. I love the parade of selfies of my daughter.”

On her most embarrassing moment as a child—which led to an embarrassing nickname:

“I’m trying to forget that! I remember the very first play I was ever in. I was in Noah’s Ark and my mom and my best friend’s mom thought it would be so cute to dress us up as the skunks, but everybody else in school… always called us “stinky” after that.”

On her awkward teenage years and being a ‘late bloomer’:

“I didn’t develop until much later than everybody else, so that was a little bit rough… when everybody’s looking at you as the little sister when you’d rather be the girlfriend.”

Her ultimate guilty pleasure:

“I always love donuts. I can’t get near a donut, I cannot eat a donut. I can’t eat once because if I eat one it’s just done. I have to have more.”

On her fantasy job (aside from acting):

“My fantasy job, if I weren’t an actress, would be to be sort of in the trenches…an investigative journalist, but they may be a lot braver than I am.”
