Audrey Butvay Gruss hosts a cocktail party for HRH Princess Michael of Kent to celebrate her new book The Queen of Four KingdomsLast Thursday Audrey Gruss hosted a reception at the 21 Club to celebrate HRH Princess Michael of Kent‘s new book “The Queen of Four Kingdoms.”

Based on the story of the Princess’ ancestors, the book fictionalizes details of England’s invasion of France in the 15th century and King Aragon’s quest to marry his daughter Yolande to Duke Louis II of Anjou in Provence.

A portion of all proceeds from the book will be donated to the Hope for Depression Research Foundation.

Gruss, mother-n-law to designer Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss, introduced Kent stating that she was one of the most educated and funny people she had the pleasure of knowing and asked her to speak a little on the book.

Princess Michael then took center stage and talked over the historical setting of the book. Her Highness enthusiastically relayed the gory historical details on the book and touched upon the madness of the King.

When she stated that the King had not started off mad, Kenneth Jay Lane humorously piped up, saying, “neither did I.” The Princess continued to speak and raised a glass to thank everyone for attending.

Besides Kenneth Jay Lane, attendees included: Susan Gutfreund, Martin Gruss, Chuck Scarborough, Lee and CeCe Black, Mary McFadden, Elizbath Kabler, Margo Langenberg, Bonnie Evans Pfeifer, Sharon Bush, Cassandra Seidenfeld, Randi Schatz, Lady Liliana Cavendish, Jonathan and Somers Farkas, Geoffrey Bradfield, Nina Griscom, Michael Bishop, Ada de Maurier, Eric Javits, Cliff Martel and Louisa Benton.
