Eric Decker, new wide receiver for the New York Jets spoke to the media a few days ago. Here’s how it went.

On his synergy with the quarterbacks…

It’s good, today was really good. I thought Geno (Smith) and Mike (Vick) did a great job, they took command of the huddle and made some good throws. We did one-on-one sessions and team periods, obviously nothing was perfect, but for day one it was awesome.

On his experience with Coach Ryan and his coaching style…

He’s amazing. I have a lot of respect for him as far as a coach goes. His personality, coming in you see it a lot on TV, but what you see is what you get and that is great. He definitely takes care of his guys. He is going to do whatever he can to make us comfortable and to make us confident. He’s the ultimate player’s coach, he is going to take care of us and get us fired up and ready to play. That’s a good balance. You want to play for that coach, because he takes care of you and he respects you.

On his emotions for this training camp to start…

I am very happy. I (had this) anticipation yesterday. You get a little anxious, nervous you don’t know what to expect. Once you get out here ball is ball, it might be a different jersey, it might be a different team, but you figure it out. That is what is so great about this organization, you got a lot of guys that can play. I am looking forward to building those relationships and hopefully be a factor or a piece in this organization.

On what he is most excited for about playing in New York…

I think it is just the overall experience. What New York brings to the table, it’s a lot of culture, and it’s a lot of passion. I understand that the fans are very excited about this season. We have a job to do to perform on the field and give them our best. On top of that just the good food, the opportunities, Broadway shows, and different things we can access. We probably have more access to that in the off-season. And getting to be part of this community. This is one of the best cities, if not the best city in our country. I am looking forward to having these opportunities.
