Mega-talent Queen Latifah will star in and executive produce the Lifetime original Movie Event ‘Steel Magnolias’, a TV adaptation of the iconic play and 1989 film reuniting her with producing duo Craig Zadan and Neil Meron from Oscar and Globe winning Chicago & Hairspray.
Latifah will play ‘M’ Lynn’ and star alongside an all-star cast including Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott, Adepero Oduye and Condola Rashad.
In the updated contemporary version, Steel Magnolias will chronicle the lives and friendship of six women in Louisiana, supporting each other through their triumphs and tragedies as they congregate at a beauty shop.
Hair and nails – all the important things, will bring women together.
Production will commence this April in Atlanta, for a 2012 debut on Lifetime.
