Fresh and tasty traditional Indian cuisine in a casually entertaining atmosphere with a great staff eager to please. That’s Benares.

Taking over the old Baluchi’s space on West 56th Street right off of bustling and hip 57th Street, the grand opening of Benares saw VIP’s and media persona’s  grabbing at the passed trays of tasty bites like they were running back to India.

The shrimp station where the spicy shrimp sang to me were better than delicious and the hot naan bread was something to remember.

The added bonus of traditional Indian music accompaniment performed on the floor of course, sealed the deal for me.

Looking to capture a taste of India? Save the airfare, head to West 56th Street and grab a beautiful gold table banquet and relish comfortably.
