From the beginning when A&D got together everyone talked whether it would last because of the big age difference. I mean, 16 years, younger man with older woman coupled with Hollywood careers will always be the talk of the town. And then add gorgeous movie stars with millions of dollars gracing every magazine cover, well, the odds are already against you. So let’s talk more.

Now we have talk of Ashton’s infidelities, pictures of A&D spending the weekend camping with their Kabbalah Instructor/Rabbi, a ratings drop on his new CBS show, and a media storm that not even the most skilled PR person can control.

So let’s ask the doctor…

Sex & marriage therapist Dr. Limor Blockman, PhD, (www.drlimor.com) author of “300 tips for Better Sexprovides her expert commentary on not only Ashton & Demi’s mishegas (Yiddish for craziness) but of course how it relates to regular everyday people too.

Does the Doc think the age difference finally caught up with them?

“In my professional opinion, age and age difference do matter in a relationship. Since age is considered a vehicle by which a person experiences common milestones in life, we learn how to navigate these milestones to our advantage in our relationships while avoiding mistakes or misjudgments.

The common age difference has been averaging 4-7 years, and even though it might not be the age per se that could get in the way, it’s elements like maturity and life experience, which tend to correlate with age, that can make or break a relationship’s long-term potential and a couple’s compatibility.”

Obviously, an age gap that large makes it more challenging, and whether they want to make it work who knows. What I do know is that this is not the kind of publicity that CBS and Warner Bros. want after all they went through with Charlie Sheen.

Stay tuned.
