Mahjongg, a popular tile game in the orient has been a favorite among women here in America for years. As a child, I would sit around my living room and steal glances at the neighborhood women deep in Mahjongg competition and await the day until I too, could play with those luxurious tiles. In recent years, especially in the United States American Mahjongg, a variant on the original Chinese version has become a hot new gaming trend and women are eager to join a Mahjongg group. Well fret no more, here in the city on NY’s Upper East Side, every Monday from 12-4p the women gather at the East River Cafe to chat, schmooze, nosh and play Mahjongg. A woman named Linda Feinstein, an expert teacher and player runs it. Whether you are a beginner and need a lesson or a past player ready to compete, she’s got it. Enjoy. www.manhattanmahjonggclub.com

  1. Hi, I’m Gillian. I just stumbled across your blog and loved it! I wanted to introduce myself and get the word out a little.
About a year ago I was introduced to the game and fell in love, before then I was one of the unaware American’s ignorant to the real game!
I loved it so much I made my friend a couple of pieces of Mah Jongg inspired jewelry, which she loved!
And now thanks to the love of this amazing game, we’ve recently started a Mah Jongg based Accessory/Gifts company that (if you love Mah Jonggor just cool stuff) I think you will love!
We absolutely embrace the cultural and historical significance of the game and we’ve worked really hard on developing products that celebrate Mahj and are functional/beautiful, while being affordable. http://www.SimplyMahj.com has lots of things to offer and we want to spread the word about how great this past time has been in uniting generations!
Have a look, we hope to see you soon! 🙂

Thanks so much for the attention.
