Hotelier and trailblazing innovator, Andre Balazs who has created and owns some of the most gorgeous properties in the country, has recently topped himself with the addition of the top floor at The Standard Hotel (Boom Boom Room) in the ever popular Meatpacking District . What he has done is managed to capture the essence of true bliss and splendor that I have never seen before basically anywhere. The floor to ceiling glass enclosed modern supper-club lounge hideaway with views for days is spectacular. It truly transports you to a place you only imagined existed in faraway elegant places or in the movies where friends and lovers would corral to live the good life. Upbeat piano music pleasantly playing in the background, the chichi crowd and the decked out cocktail waitresses all add to the ambiance. Not to mention the golden colors and lighting, the tasty food and cocktail selections, and the beautiful and comfortably designed swank booths which all have a magnificent view as well. It is no surprise that the designers behind this creation were the original designers on the Windows of the World restaurant many years ago. And if you’re looking for a one of a kind bathroom experience, be sure to make your way towards the loo and have the bathroom host point you in the right direction. It is truly breathtaking. Oh and by the way, don’t forget to attempt to make your way across the hall to the newly opened Top of The Standard Rooftop Bar (Black Room) which I can’t even discuss right now how amazing that is. As they say in Yiddish, I’m kvelling. To be continued. http://standardhotels.com
